Here, an early morning in the Serengeti can begin with the distant call of birds and end with a lion resting beneath an acacia tree. A road through the northern highlands can lead to the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater, where an ancient volcanic landscape opens below you. Farther south, the wilderness becomes quieter and more expansive, with rivers, forests and vast landscapes that feel almost untouched.
